The plain suction dredger is designed and constructed to excavate sediment from a water bottom and transport it to another place via a pipeline. The excavated material is transported through floating pipes, using a hydraulically driven, submerged centrifugal dredge pump and a diesel driven jet pump. The materials that can be dredged are sludge, sand and gravel. The jet-water nozzles at the suction head loosen the material and the vacuum of the dredge pump sucks the water-solids mixture in the suction pipe. The surrounding water must not be chemically corrosive. The vessel is designed and constructed for use in sheltered waters. The output of the pump unit depends on the dredging conditions (dredging depth, delivery distance, type of material, geodetic pressure) and can be calculated from the pump characteristics as described in this technical specifications.

The DN350 Deep suction Dredger is a stationary plain suction dredger that can be disassembled. The dimensions are designed for transport by truck over the road. The dredger is used to dredge sand, sludge and gravel from the bottom of a river, canal or lake.
Hydraulic power is then used to transport the slurry material to the delivery location.
The hull consists of two pontoons:
•one side pontoon on the Port side
•one side pontoon on the Starboard side
The two pontoons are connected with a connection frame and support beam at the rear, a foundation frame for winches in the middle and a portal and A-frame at the front. At the Aft a portal crane is mounted for installation of dredge pipes and hoses at the Aft.
In between the two side pontoons, a hinged ladder/suction pipe is mounted. The ladder can be raised and lowered max 50° by means of an hydraulic hoisting winch (ladder winch) positioned in front of the wheelhouse. At the front of the ladder a suction pipe is connected by a cardan piece. The suction pipe can be raised and lowered max 90° by means of an hydraulic hoisting winch (dredge pipe winch) positioned in front of the wheelhouse.
From front to aft the ladder/suction pipe contains the suction head with jet nozzles and basket, a suction pipe, a cardan piece, a suction pipe, the inspection piece, the submerged dredge pump, the hydraulic drive, the discharge pipe and the jet-water pipes.
Four hydraulic hauling winches are installed for positioning the dredger.
The SB side pontoons are divided into separate compartments, from front to aft: a water ballast tanks, void, the fuel oil tank, engine room with Hydraulic pump, Caterpillar 3408 and KSB jet pump. The HPU is used to power the dredge pump and the winches
The PS side pontoons are divided into separate compartments, from front to aft: a water ballast tanks, void, the fuel oil tank, engine room with generator set, Caterpillar 3408, Reintjes Gear Box, Bagema Booster pump.
At the aft of the dredger, under the waterline, box coolers are mounted. This coolers are for cooling the 2 pcs Caterpillar 3408 diesel engine.
